Blue Light

On a blue black night
In the milk soft sun
On a moon black bus
In this sordid hour
On a blue black night

On this sun lit plain
I see your color drained
I taste the words I spit
On this sun lit plain

Smoke fills our charcoaled lungs

Doldrums

We can’t keep ‘em in line
But we’re better than fine
Got my jordache jeans
And a bottle of wine
It’s the blues tonight
But the morning will shine
Got an eye on the prize
And a pool hall smile
Taking all comers
March on down
to the accordion show
It’s a bummer
The lessons we burn
are the only ones we know
We can’t keep ‘em in line
But we’re better than fine
Got an eye on the prize
And a bottle of wine
It’s the blues tonight
But the morning will shine
Got my jordache jeans
And a pool hall smile

Not Cordial

I could have said no
I could have gone home
Cuz I get so tight,
 and I get all hazed
And the haunted streets are a wobbly maze

It’s crazy how I
Fell toward you

4001

4001
Gotta find my strength
Gonna hit up Wags
Gonna by a gun
Gonna watch the shit spill
At 4001
See their little eyes
See their Harvard smiles
See their tiny hands
See their soft tomorrows
Gonna buy a gun
Gonna settle the deal
Gonna make them one
At 4001
I love them so
They just don’t know

Birdlife

Can we figure out life at the age of five?
Do we have to deceive to keep love alive?
Is it part of the game to live without a name
It's a day in the life

November Rain rather November shame
Is it time to acquit playing Dec games?
When the cost is too much will we know it's enough
Or will April become another Grovian bluff

The scheme of the eve the equatorial scenes
of the past they remind me of a warm Hallow's eve
With love in the air and a shadowy stare
From the Capitol lights to the Dane County Fair

Again it is spring and the sparrows will sing
From the branches about their romanticist flings
I am living a lie and I'm leaving with grace
Why marry a girl when you can marry a place?

It's Birdlife

I see what you want me to be

The Stars At Noon

Summer was a psychic blast till autumn drew her fangs
Winter came all white like diamonds in a glitter range

Through all the losses we've known
Through all the cuts we've sewn

April washed off dust and kicked it toward the moon
Dusted off our shades at night and gazed upon the stars at noon

Safety Hawk at the Miranda

From the 608, to the 520, to the 928, to the 520
From the 305, to the 505, to the 666, to the 999

We started first we meant to last and put it to a song
And now we know the love we had we knew it all along

Barelas

Bright lights we move along
This is is a morning song
Catch her before she falls
Please lift her up before she's gone

My heart's an open plain
For things we can't explain
The bones are piling up
We hold our hearts and dig mass graves

Bright lights we move along
This is a morning song
Catch her before she falls
Please lift her up before she's gone

Autumn is here again the leaves fall down from up above
The flaming sun swings up as we bury the ones we love

My heart's an open plain
For things we can't explain
The mesa's coming up
We fill our cups at the B Café

We can't feel anything
We can't do anything

Some night but not tonight
Some day but not today
